From 110th south to 96th on the East Side it is known as Spanish Harlem. This is also confirmed in the Encyclopedia of New York City under the entry "Harlem. Also, the same Encyclopedia's entry for "Yorkville" gives that neighborhood's northern boundary as 96th street. The Wikipedia article on Harlem also agrees with 96th as the southern boundary of Spanish Harlem. Similarly, the Wikipedia article on Yorkville gives 96th as the northern boundary of Yorkville. While there is some controversy (and sometimes lively dispute) about Yorkville's southern boundary, there is no such disagreement about its northern boundary of 96th St. As for the original topic of this thread, hre have always been folks--once in the ajority--whoso used the dandelion, but under relentless pressure from the lawn-cawn company advertising most surburbanites have forgotten these roots.
