I was too young to remember the Giants (although I did see the Mets at the Polo Grounds in '62 and '63), but I've always wondered why everyone makes a big to-do about the Dodgers leaving Ebbets Field for L.A., while the Giants leaving for SF is rarely mentioned. Maybe there was a special magic to the Dodgers--even I, who was born in '52, can nevertheless name many of the old Dodgers (Erskine, Campanella, Robinson, Snider, Pee Wee Reese, etc.), while the only old Giant from that era who comes to mind is Willie Mays.
