Mel Ott hit more home runs in New York City than anybody.

He was before my time, though.

The first game I ever saw was at the PG in 1954.
Marv Grissom started. I think it was the only game he started all
year.
whitey Lockman hit a 5th inning Home Run and the NY GIANTS beat Robin Roberts, 1-0.
There were nine players on each team - no DH, no pinch hittters, no relievers that day - the same nine who started finished.

My mother made a deal with me- if the GIANTS got in the world series I could stay home and watch. She knew tht it wasn't likely - we were 5th in 1953.
But she didn't count on Willie Mays. She kept her end of the bargain, thogh and we were world champs.
The Indians had great pitching. The great Bob Feller was nearing the end.
Later Leo Durocher said that we couldn't touch Feller during spring training.
Fortunately, they didn't throw him.

I could go on and on.
